Meeting practical needs
Although we recognise the importance of "teaching a man to fish", there are still many situations where practical, generous intervention is called for - particularly in cases involving vulnerable communities such as children. We have a number of projects which aim to provide such practical support:
- Our sewing group meet every two weeks to make clothing for needy children. It is quite incredible what they have produced over the years.
- One of our home groups is running an ongoing initiative to provide basic toiletries for a number of needy families identified by our community worker.
- A retiring offering given during our communion services goes towards our caring fund which provides emergency help for struggling families.
