Coming Home

Sep 13, 2021 Michael Bishop

Thankfully, it seems that across the nation, we have passed the peak of the third Covid wave and probably by the time that you read this a move to lockdown level 2 will be imminent. Our stewards met this week to plan the way forward as far as in-person services go and here is what we have decided:

  • Assuming that we do move to level 2 (and indoor services are allowed up to 100 people), we will plan to start meeting inside the church building from Sunday 3 October. Until then, our outdoor services will continue.
  • We will have two morning services initially (which should ensure that we have comfortably less than 100 in each service). Our initial thought was to begin with the old 08h30 and 10h00 services, but in order to allow enough time for wiping down surfaces between services, we will start the first service at 8am. So, an 8am service musically led by the worship team and a 10am service with hymns played on the organ.
  • Hand sanitation stations will be available at both entrances, masks are to be worn throughout except by people speaking/singing from the front, and social distance observed in seating arrangements. Doors and windows will be open and the fans will be on. This environment will be safest for people who have been vaccinated – please get the jab if you haven’t already.
  • From 3 October, in-person services will be live-streamed at and the pre-recorded service will fall away. We will be working on tweaking the technical details in the coming weeks to improve the live-stream connection speed and ensure that sound and visibility is as good as possible for our online community.

We’re excited to be coming home again – this brings us to the end of a long season of online videos (our 96th video will be the last one uploaded for 26 September!)
