Be a Grandfather they said… Some relevant quotes…
"Blessed are those who spoil and snuggle, hug and hope, pray and pamper, for they shall be called grandparents."
“The best parents get promoted to grandparents.”
“Grandparents are there to help the child get into mischief they haven’t thought of yet.”
“Grandfathers are just antique little boys.”
“To a small child, the perfect granddad is unafraid of big dogs and fierce storms but absolutely terrified of the word 'boo.'” — Nicholas Brault
“An hour with your grandchildren can make you feel young again. Anything longer than that, and you start to age quickly.” — Gene Perret
"There is nothing like grandchildren in your arms to put a smile on your face, a lump in your throat, and a warm feel in your heart."
Many of you who are already promoted to the category of grandparents, tried to warn me… You said that if I thought I loved my children, I would be surprised at the love I feel for my grandchild. You were right! I cannot explain the feeling. The best description is to say that my heart has expanded. When I am with her, I am in a trance of amazement. I am addicted to holding her and gazing at her and marvelling at her every twitch or squeak. I don’t know how I am going to be able to come back!
The thought that crossed my mind is this: if God is the loving God he has made himself known to be, is his gaze upon each one of us not exactly the same. Does he not look upon us with amazement and expanding love?! What would it mean for us to grasp the extent of God’s love for us!!!!!
