Diary for UMC'S Youth and Children Ministry

Kym Bishop 08 Aug 2016 youth  children  sunday blog

It has been a wonderful thing to watch our ministry to children and young people growing over the years.  Especially on Communion Sundays, when the Sunday School and Youth join the 'grown ups' in church for communion, it is a very special kind of chaos!  Clifton and his team have been hosting Friday night youth events (a youth rally), and these have been a great way for youth to connect with God and with each other.  There are also plans afoot for a youth camp, so watch this space.

This term, the Sunday School are doing a 'Champions for Jesus' theme in keeping with the Olympic Games, and I know there are some brilliant things planned.

There are some special opportunities coming up in the second half of this year for children and young people to connect with friends, with the church and with God.  But they need the encouragement and support of their 'grown ups' and of the church family as a whole, so please take note of the following dates:

12 August is the next Youth Rally (gr6-12)

20 August is a Family Braai.  Every one is welcome!  There will be braais on the go and the Olympics will be broadcast on the big screen.

25 September the Sunday School will have a mini-olympics event on the field.

14-16 October is Sunday School Camp for grade4-7s

29 October is our alternative Halloween event

We are so grateful to Marcia and Clifton for their ministries at UMC.  Both are passionate about God and young people, and they serve so faithfully in this place.  They serve with teams of dedicated volunteers and teachers, who also sacrifice so much to be available for this work. Please encourage and support them in the work they are doing, and remember to pray for them and for our Youth and Sunday School.
