It feels like slowly but surely we are emerging from the holidays and re-entering familiar daily rhythms! It’s just a couple more sleeps until the children are back at school and ours are already raring to go :) And there are also signs of life on the property at UMC after the Christmas break:
We had our first society stewards meeting on Friday (and welcomed Marcia Moodie as a new steward).
We welcomed Ozzy Madlala onto our staff team this last week. He is stepping into the role of full-time youth and children’s pastor (and is leading worship at 08h30 this morning if you didn’t meet him last week).
Next week, our circuit ministers meet for the first time (and we will welcome Rev Mike Vorster to our circuit as he takes on pastoral responsibility for the Stanger and Darnall societies).
Kym led devotions at the DLA staff meeting this week and had a chance to meet new teaching staff and encourage the team as they plan for the new year. We were so pleased to hear that the DLA matric class of 2017 returned a 100% pass rate and the top student brought home 6A’s – well done to teachers and staff! The new grade 8 class starts their orientation tomorrow morning.
We spent a morning this last week arranging furniture in the Upper Room for Ozzy and Nonny. It’s looking great up there with the two new offices set up – pop in and have a look when you have a chance.
An exciting year awaits and we look forward to all that God has in store for us!
Last, a huge thank you from Kym and I for the end of year gift we received from the congregation. We so appreciate this generous expression of your love – thank you!
